MACHINE VISION

TRAJAN

Creation of a new reality where properties from a physical and digital environment are intertwined. It’s a glimpse of what our reality might evolve into, when the barriers between the physical and digital are broken down, and they truly co-exist within one another. Establishing a new and dynamic environment.

Augmented reality is becoming an increasingly present phenomenon in design and construction. The main result, a movie, stands as an artistic exploration of how this trend could turn our physical spaces into augmented environments, how it might work, and how this transformation could look.

With the increased automation robotization and technologization of our environments, we will increasingly share our space with agents whose behavior we do not fully understand. In order to design for and with these new agents in mind, it’s therefore interesting to first understand how they perceive, sense, measure and quantify our world. What’s the vision of machines and how does their vision operate? The project is journey behind this question, extrapolating machine behavior and visualizing how such an agent might perceive Rome on the outskirts of Vienna - while generating a new hybrid environment. The result is a speculative visualization of a machine thought process.

No modelling was involved, all geometry is computer generated from either photogrammetry or depth sensors.
