THE URBAN PIER

TRANSFORMATION IN TRONDHEIM

Trondheim's identity manifests itself on the front of beautiful postcards. These postcards conceal the city's soul in colors and shapes, which for all are easily recognizable.

We visualize the urban potential of a transformation based on destination development. Focusing on creating an authentic and qualitative strategic intervention that enhances the city's experience economy, both as an architectural stimulation and development tool. Destination development is about what makes Trondheim special, but equally much about what links Kjøppmanngate together. The competition area has a unique composition of site-based stories. The green slope along Kjøppmannsgata, the squares between the river-facing buildings, and constant revelation and relationship to the river itself. With the ability to designate, improve and further develop these strength positions, we see an opportunity to interaction with these as the greatest potential for urban transformation to create a strategy that can contribute to local community development. Thus, we create strong destinations with international views.

In short: We create a local, regional and national development strategy at the same time focusing on regaining and improving Trondheim's own self-image. A curious and investigative approach as well as an innovative interpretation of Nordic aesthetics and community thinking that will create new focus points for Trondheim’s postcards by the year 2030 and beyond.
